Turner County Schools held their back-to-school convocation program for all faculty and staff members on Monday! After a great breakfast sponsored by South Georgia Banking Company, the program began with a welcome from new Superintendent Christy Wray. Superintendent Wray shared the priorities and goals for the year, focusing on relationship building, targeted professional development, student growth in all areas, improved student & faculty attendance, school safety, and increased accountability.
Principals and district leaders kicked off the celebrations with introductions of new staff members and administrative teams. Recognitions continued with our incredible Teachers of the Year and Titan Award winners! System Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Annette Guess, shared the story, "The Dot." The story reminds educators that when teaching children it's not always about how well they can do something today; it is important to recognize the effort that they put into it that makes it their best...and then build relationships to encourage growth tomorrow.
Everyone was inspired and energized for the new year by international motivational speaker, Dave Weber. He emphasized to all in attendance that "words matter because 'Words impact relationships; Relationships impact culture; and Culture impacts results." We are planning on a great year with great results for our Titan family! #TitanNation
